ROTARY IN CHICHESTER

Chichester is very well served with four established and active Rotary Clubs.  Each Club has its own programme of activities; however, the four Clubs collaborate when it comes to major projects.  In recognition of their members’ differing lifestyles and commitments, the four Clubs meet on different days of the week and at different times.  Club members are, however, always assured of a warm welcome should they wish to attend events organised by any of the four Clubs.

Details of the four Clubs’ various fundraising initiatives (both locally and further afield) and wide range of social activities can be found on the Clubs’ individual websites, together with details of their regular meetings which interested individuals are most welcome to attend.

Rotary is a great way of providing practical help in your local community and making a new circle of friends and like-minded colleagues, while at the same time having fun and “giving something back”.

All Rotary Clubs follow the Rotary principle of total inclusivity and are non-political and non-sectarian.  Chichester's four Clubs share the same purpose and objective: namely, to endeavour to make a difference both locally and internationally while following the Rotary motto of "Service Above Self".

ROTARY INTERNATIONAL

Rotary is a global network of more than 1.2 million neighbours, friends, leaders and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.

Solving real problems takes real commitment and vision.  Since its inception in 1905, Rotary's “people of action” have for more than 120 years utilised their passion, energy and intelligence to take action on sustainable projects.  From literacy and peace to water and health, they work to improve the world around them.

One highly successful humanitarian project with which Rotary has played a major role, in partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, is the eradication of polio.  Since 1988, there has been a worldwide reduction in polio cases of 99.9%, and in 2025 only two countries remain polio-endemic, namely Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Rotary’s members have a long track record of addressing challenges in their communities and around the world.  That commitment endures today through an organisation that remains truly international.  Rotary’s members now span the globe, working to solve some of our world’s most challenging problems.
